Home > Starting Breyanzi
Your white blood cells (T cells) are combined with a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) so they can better locate and fight your cancer cells. Learn more about each step in the CAR T treatment process.
You’ll have a consultation at a certified treatment center, where you'll be evaluated to make sure you’re a candidate for Breyanzi.
If eligible based on your consultation, you will be scheduled to have your blood drawn, a process called apheresis (also referred to as leukapheresis). After your blood is drawn, your white blood cells (T cells), a type of cell in your immune system, will be collected while the other parts of your blood are returned into your body. Apheresis can be done in 1 day and usually takes 2 to 6 hours.
This video outlines the infusion process in its entirety to help you and your loved ones better understand what to expect.
“I remember watching while they were putting the CAR T cells into me. I felt hopeful that things were going to start turning around. This was our fresh start.”
